Our Horses

Talk

This horse is a 1981 gelding. He is a 25 year veteran of the cutting arena and has participated in several large cattle gatherings. He has been a babysitter to many children, demonstrating the unique versatility of his American Quarter Horse breeding & 7 Star thanks Mr. and Mrs. Bailey Reece of Canyon, TX for their generous donation of Talk and Smoothie.

Smacker 5

Smacker 5 was a race horse in the English races. He won $65,000 in one year. His jockey was killed in a race (riding another horse) and Smacker never wanted to race again. Smacker was not intended to be in the program, but he invited himself in by choosing a client for therapy. Smacker 5 belongs to therapeutic instructor Brigitta Bogan's daughter Samantha and is on loan to 7 Star.

Dutch

Dutch (Dutch Royal Treat) is 'on standby' just in case somebody chooses him as their therapy horse. Dutch is an 18 year old Quarter Horse gelding who was supposed to be a pole bender and barrel racer. But, Dutch is 17.2 hands tall, and that was too much height for those events. Brigitta Bogan and daughter Samantha bought Dutch and retrained him as an English riding horse. Samantha and Dutch evented on Preliminary level before Dutch retired. He is on loan to 7 Star.

Our Horses

Dove

This beautiful mare is an eighteen year old Tennessee Walker. Dove has many allergies and is diagnosed with COPD. With a special diet this mare's asthmatic symptoms are eaisily maintained. Dove is being used in our psychotherapy program for veterans and being used for therapeutic riding. Thank you Carol & Doug Walters of Aransas Pass, TX for donating Dove to 7 Star.

Monty

Monty (Monty Python) is a 22 year old Standardbred gelding. Monty was adopted by therapeutic instructor Brigitta Bogan.Monty had been abused by his previous owners (who were jailed as a result). He had been beaten and was 400 pounds underweight. Before being injured, Monty had been a very fast Pacer on the race track. Monty is on loan to 7 Star courtesy of Brigitta.

Tom

This chestnut gelding is a Quarter Horse with a roping background that has recently joined the 7 Star Horse family. 7 Star thanks Dayle and Gwen Ferguson of Follett, TX for donating Tom to our therapy program.

Magic

Magic is an ideal therapy horse with his even disposition and pleasant personality. He has been with 7 Star for a year. He is a five year old AQHA Appendix gelding. Magic was donated to us by a certified NARHA instructor from Stable Strdes, an equine therapy center in Flower Mound, Texas.

Mo (Mozart Masterpiece) is on loan to 7 Star. His owner, therapeutic instructor Brigitta Bogan, says, "Mo belonged to a friend, and he was always watching when taught horseback riding lessons. One day he joined the lessons...without a rider. I bought him and he has done lessons ever since. He won more ribbons with the kids at little shows than any other horse." Now Mo is a winner as a therapy horse.
